Sometime overnight, our Caique managed to bend his toe at an angle that a toe is not supposed to bend. We're getting him into the vet tomorrow. Any advice on what to do in the meantime?

Strangely, he's not favoring it. He is extra grumpy, though. Can't say that I blame him.

Oh boy, Joel, I'm sorry. :( That sure looks painful. I hope the vet can fix him right up. Could he have gotten it caught somewhere?

Please give us an update once he was seen, would you?

I'd try to keep him as calm and quiet as possible (yeah, I know, probably not very likely with a Caique). :32:

... Could he have gotten it caught somewhere...

That's what we were guessing. He has a couple of toys that he hangs from. It looks like he got his toe caught in a link and spun all the way around. Now, to find the culprit!

I've been searching online, it doesn't sound like the vet can do much. He's definitely going to get checked up on tomorrow, but most likely, this is a, "let it heal" thing. :-/

Bless his heart, I hope he is not in too much pain:( It is so hard when we can't fix what's wrong. Good luck at the vets!

Shew! Just a dislocated toe. I took Beaker to the vet, and she had it had it fixed in 5 minutes. I was immensely relieved when she told us we made the right decision not to go to the emergency vet.

Beaker was given some anti-inflammatories. There's one more catch. Since this happened once, the ligaments are loose in his toe. It will probably happen again. The vet said if it becomes a regular thing, she'll teach us how to relocate it.

All in all, this was excellent news. Now, to figure out the stupid toy that caused this...

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Good news! I'm glad Beaker wasn't hurt too awfully bad.
