Please read. Dangerous bird swing

I purchased a Penn Plax parakeet swing for my parakeet. I had a horrifying experience and now I'm just trying to let bird owners know that these swings are VERY dangerous. The hooks used to hold these swings, pierced through my parakeets chin and wrapped around his lower mandible. Thankfully I found him before I went to bed. I found him hanging by the hook, totally worn out, trying to grip the metal frame of the swing. He definitely wouldn't have made it another hour, if that. I don't know what to say, the photos are terrible your poor bird (& you). So glad he survived. Thanks for sharing

Your poor poor bird, thank goodness you found him in time, and took him to the vet. Terrible experience for both of you.
I would certainly take this further, dealing with the company that sells the swings.
Let us know what happens, when you contact the company.

Wow! I can't imagine finding one of my birds in that situation. You're so lucky you found him! Hope everything heals up quickly.

This company needs to be contacted ASAP, they need to recall this swing before any other incidences happen. Your poor bird, that must have been so horrifying! I've read two other similar experiences with the same swing, both were also horrific.

How is he feeling right now? Hoping his recovery is speedy...

If you don't have much luck with the manufacturer, I'd try the resellers... maybe they'd agree to stop selling the product.

I am horrified, I have 5 parakeets and actually thought about buying the same exact swing for their flight cage the other day

. I'm so glad i didn't, thank you for sharing. Jade has a natural swing made out of wood and string, I think I'll stick with that.
