Below are some pictures of kiwis lower belly. I have noticed it's only on side of his ring. He mainly raises this leg when sleeping and chillaxin also. He was born back end of last year so I'm told so not sure of exact age. Do u think plucking ? Moulting ? I've had him 7 weeks and haven't seen him plucking but perhaps could of previously? If u look at his pics In my album it dosent look that bad until really up close ( he is still super scrummy) Any ideas advice anyone ? Thanks in advance.

That shouldn't be happening from leaning or sleeping with that foot up. I would try to figure out a way to be able to see every feather that leaves his body. Since u r not seeing him plucking, it means if he is, u should be finding feathers or pieces of chewed feathers where he stays when u are not with him. Check even things that don't look like feathers in case they are coming off in little bites.

Thanks for your reply. I have noticed a few little downy feathers was kind of hoping it was past problem and that it's something he will get over. He has lots to do and has some around him everyday apart from Thursday and Friday. His ring bothers him I am goin to have it removed and kinda thought cause this bothers him and he chews it its lead him to explore that area if you know what I mean. I alternate his toys and try and to make his environment interesting and fun. Guess it's back to the drawing board. Hope he gets over it.

I would ask the vet about it when you have his ring removed. It could be that the ring is bothering him so much that he is plucking there, but the vet may have some ideas after seeing him in person. My Xander had a plucked belly when we got him, but he soon stopped and does not do it at all anymore so far (knock wood!).
