Sootie- Yellow-sided GCC
This morning I made porridge with milk. I ususally make it with water and forgot and gave Sootie her portion like I usually do. She ate a lot, and only once I got into work did I realise what I'd done. She seems fine but I'm worried she might become sick over the next few days. Does anyone have experience with this? Will she be okay do you think?

I think she will be fine. Dairy products aren't toxic to parrots, but parrots are lactose intolerant, it may give her some temporary discomfort while she's digesting it, but no long term problems. A lot of people give their birds a little cheese occasionally with no problems. Sootie probably didn't ingest enough milk to do too much harm. If you're worried, you could give your vet a call, just to make sure.

Totally agree with Allee. Our alex loves cheese and has not had any visible side effects from it. She also goes nuts for ice cream, again with no side effects. I am sure your baby will be fine. Just keep an eye on her.

Kiwi gets a piece of cereal out of a bowl with milk as a treat on occasion. He also loves cheese and yogurt (also occasional treats). Obviously, parrots shouldn't eat a lot of dairy, but every so often, in SMALL quantities is fine for most birds.

Oh don't worry - it's not THAT BAD! :) Parry manages to get into my food containing milk once in a while, and I never saw anything happening with him. He drinks EVERYTHING from my cup, and if I leave my coffee cup (with A LOT of milk) unattended for a minute, he'd be there drinking my coffee. It only happened a couple of times and he just got one or two sips, but I was terrified as well. However nothing happened to him. :) Now I'm thinking about converting to herbal tees just to keep it safer for him (and healthier for me!) :D

Every single day of my life, I start out with a nice cup of muesli in hot milk. Every single day of my life, I must first give a teaspoonful to Dominic and then a fair shovelful to Barney and Madge before I even get to think about breakfast. Every single day.

So far, no one appears to have gotten sick from the milky cereal and they still clamour for their fair share. Dominic has even been caught guzzling milk out of my glass when I happened to set it down on the table. I figure birds aren't stupid: they know when something is disagreeable, just like I know not to eat onions. :D
