Hi all, so Patrick my Senegal has a slightly red slightly sore looking foot.
It's not majorly bad so I'm not sure if he needs to go to the vet or not.
I assume minor things will be fine, however wanted some advice.

Should I take him to the vet or not? (I'm not against taking him).

Is his whole foot red? Or is it just a red bump? Can you post a picture?

What kind of perches does Patrick have?

He's not very tame so it's hard to get a picture.
He has a variety of perches and toys, these include a fake branch one some plain dowel ones (a variety of sizes) and a sandpaper type one.
None of these are new and are a fair selection of sizes.
It's the foot he holds stuff with.

The redness looks a bit like a minor bump a small cut. It's hard to see exactly.
I've added the best picture I could get.

I would suggest getting rid of the dowel perches as well as the sandpaper one- both types can be terribly tough on birdy feet even though their diameters vary, it's the shape and texture that counts as well.

Do a search for "bumble foot" -it's a common result of poor perches, and little red sores will show up on their feet.

You may want to have an avian vet take a look at his foot though just to make sure there's no other injury or infection- bumble foot may need treatment, depending on the severity.

I just Googled bumble foot. I'm not sure it's that but I think I'll take him to the vet anyway.
I'll have to replace his perches.

Other than replacing the perches and feeding him slightly less (I read it's caused by bad perches and being overweight).
Is there anything I can do?
