Well, our new Quaker after going to the vet for the first time in years came back with the diagnosis of Giardia. So she's on Ronidizole as of today. We were hoping for an above freezing day to go out and powerwash her cages but we knuckled under and scrubbed them all last night.

Hopefully we'll get through this quickly and perhaps it will help with some of her issues.

Mostly of the time we're on city water though it's pretty heavily filtered (my wife also has fish/aquatic turtles). We've only had her a bit over a week. I don't know how she was exposed to it at her former owners as they never really handled her or got her out of the cage, but they were on a farm with livestock birds (chickens, ducks) and given the general sanitation I'm sure it was some cross contamination with the outside birds. No telling how long she's been infected...they never bothered to take her to a vet.

Poor Bacca, I'm glad she's had her vet visit and her Giardia is being treated. I hope she's on her way to a speedy recovery.
