Hi all,
I usually come on this forum to read advice, but today I wanted to post about something my parrot has started to do recently. He's constantly making this hiccup sound. I don't know if it's something I should be concerned about or not.

I've put it on YouTube so I can share it here

Appreciate any advice.

Awww... He's just a baby isn't he? That sounds like a perfectly normal noise to me. It also sounds like one a young bird would make. The amazons do make some really weird sounds!

Yea fairly young, 2 years old. But it's a new sound and he's making it continuously, like he's on my shoulder now and he's been doing it Non-stop for 20mins. But he can go on doing it for hours. Just concerned that he's trying to get my attention to something that's wrong.

Probably is seeking attention, not in a "care need is not being met" way, more a "I'm an attention goblin" way. Instead of giving him a petting when he does that (which will only teach him if he whines, you'll come running), instead offer him a toy or better yet, go "play" with a toy in his cage to get him interested in the toy instead of you (which helps him make an association with being bored and playing with a toy to relieve the boredom).

Wanted to add, amazons have a VERY distinct "alarm" noise. I have yet to hear an amazon who doesn't crouch low, freeze and make the "er er er" noise when frightened. They will emit a bloodcurdling scream if hurt. You'll KNOW if he's scared or injured, trust me:) There's very little room for misinterpretation.
