Hey… so I've successfully trimmed 3 of 8 toenails today lol I've always just let my birds in the past sit on my finger and do a quick tip snip causing no stress. Same applies for Kyo, and her one foot with trimmed nails looks so much better, but unfortunately she will not sit still enough to get the rest of them. I didn't want to stress her out and make it a bad experience so I gave up and just fed her treats. She is such a busy little baby.

As for towelling, I am failing miserably at doing it successfully. She squirms just a bit and I get scared I'll hurt her and have to let her go. Is there any way to just convince her to sit still so I can quickly tip off those sharp tips, or is towelling the only way I'll get them all? She is not afraid of the towel, just wants to be wrapped up /on her back on her own terms and not mine. I've watched some videos and I'm just not getting it I guess.

Help.

If she's a little squirmer in the towel, ideally you'll have someone help you hold her securely in the towel, then you can get the rest of her nails done easier, and with less stress on you. :)

OR, if she will give you her foot through the cage bars, you can hold her foot (out) and snip off those nails you weren't able to do earlier.

Hello, I don't understand how a nail clipping can possibly make her look better ? But it will make her clumsy and less secure on hard purches. She is too small a bird to cause damage to your skin with normal nails. D.D.

The vet recommended I clip her nails because they are too long and yes they have pierced my skin. My hands are all torn up from them."

I found a vet in town that will do it for $25 so I'm just going to bring her there tomorrow.
