Mold mites?

Today when changing the water in my sun conure's cage I noticed a white powder or mold in the water and around the water bowl. I took a real close look and saw that it was actually tiny bugs. And that they are elsewhere in the cage as well.

The thing is, I don't think the bird is affected. No visual cues anyway.
I had the window open in their room during a hot humid day and I think that is where they came from. The heat, humidity, plus the water from the bowl mixing with the cage bedding, which I hadn't been able to change due to busy schedule.

Could these simply be mold mites? Rather than bird mites.. or is that just wishful thinking?
Has anyone experienced these before?

Tomorrow I am going to thoroughly clean both of the cages and the room and use alcohol on the cages after they dry and buy a mite spray.

I hope this gets rid of them.
This has been a lesson to maintain a strict cage cleaning schedule.

Well, I deep cleaned their cages and room.
So far no sign of the little bugs.

Unfortunately my sun conure did not make it through the day.
I didn't think he would, he was 3 months shy of 33 years old, which I'm told is very long for sun conures, and I didn't expect him to live much longer. There was no sign of mites on him or breathing distress. He just fell asleep.

the green cheek conure is fine, and I checked over him thorougly for mites, lice, or any kind of rash after giving him a good bath and he has none. He looks completely healthy.

I've quarantined my macaw's cage in a different room and wash my hands between rooms just to be safe.

Sad day.

Isopods are great friends to have in your tanks. They do need some moist places to hide in but they eat the white mites right up. I had a huge mite problem in my centipede tanks. I bought some rolypolys and now the mites are gone Spring tails take care of mold but I dont think they eat mites. Can anyone tell me if they do or not?

I don't think you want to put any of those in a Bird Cage
