GI infection and food, HELP!!!

Hi guys,

I have two 6 months old BHC. I brought them home last week and they have been adjusting to their new home extremely well, very playful and eating like little piggies.

Just for my peace of mind, I brought them to the vet this Monday and we did a basic CBC and stool sample and I got the unfortunate call today saying that one of them has a gram -ve bacteria in his stool and one's White Cell count is high and both of them likely has some sort of an infection.
I was told to start on antibiotics for 14 days and reassess.

I'm just so worried about them at this point. I went to the vets half expecting nothing... to be honest. I also just noticed some watery stool from one of them today as well. Aside from that they're still extremely playful and hearty eaters.

What do you guys think about still giving them veggies and fruits with breakfast and dinner? I've been doing that since they've been home. I'm worried with the GI infection, could watery fruits and veggies make things worst? They're also on Harrison's and TOPs pellets.

I'm just not really sure how they even got the infection. When they went to the vets for the visit, it wasn't even a week after coming back home. I'd just feel so guilty if it was because of me. But I've been cleaning their cage daily, fresh food and water daily and all of their stuff were brand new and no other birds had touched them before...

Enough ranting....I would really appreciate some advice on food choices now with their current infection and antibiotics

I've had a few transient infections with my parrots over the years, and they typically respond very well to antibiotic therapy. Baytril and Doxycycline delivered orally seem to be the drugs of choice. Don't recall significant food issues with the meds, in fact it was suggested that mixing the fluid with applesauce, fruit juice, yogurt, or similar medium is OK.
