I've heard of that, and it IS excellent news ! I wonder how long it will take before it is actually available to pet owners. Good news that it's at least in the works!

Me too! It's phenomenal that it's finally in the stages of becoming a viable vaccine for parrot owners. I'm really hoping in the next 5-10 years it'll become common practice to vaccinate birds to prevent it.

Great news!!! The only bad thing, I'm a University of Texas (UT) fan, Husband is 100% Texas A&M, he can not know I approved of Texas A&M's success on this!!!! We battle in our house, we are rivals!!!! The very last football game between UT and A&M, UT won by 3 points, the last game before A&M went to the SEC. Husband was crying we cheated, whatever, lol!

That would certainly reduce much worry, since PDD is such a COMMON disease. A vaccine would be a dream come true, but then again how many breeders, especially the less knowledgeable or irresponsible ones (the ones who SHOULD use it) will actually do it.

This could be an incredibly important discovery - many endangered parrot species such as orange-bellied parrots and citron-crested cockatoos actually have high PDD infection rates. Being able to help keep populations a little healthier could be vital.
