I wasn't sure where to post this one, there were a few topics it could fall under.

My 6+ year old female Green Cheek is experiencing extreme behavioral issues as of late. She is territorial and overly aggressive. I posted another thread http://www.parrotforums.com/adoptions-re-homing/57794-devastated-doing.html that has more detailed info.

My vet has recommended we try Lupron injections.

She said it is a series of three injections - spaced 2 weeks apart. After the first injection, I am to monitor Tiki for even the most microscopic bit of improvement. If after two weeks, Tiki does show even a tiny bit less aggressive, or it takes her just a second longer than normal to attack, we continue with the second injection and ultimately the third injection. If after the first there is absolutely NO sign of improvement, then we don't continue.

The information from the questions I asked my vet are...

It is an intramuscular injection, so no finding a vein. She has performed the injections on hundreds of birds. She only ever had one adverse reaction which was in a cockatiel - it developed weakness in its legs - but this was only one bird out of hundreds. Possible complications would be soreness at the injection site. It is not guaranteed to work - she said sometimes it works wonders, sometimes it does nothing - its dependent on each individual bird.

Does anyone here have first hand experience with Lupron injections? Did it work for your bird? Does anyone have any insight or suggestions or advice?

Two weeks ago I moved Tiki to a new room, rearranged her cage, began a strict 9 hours of daylight schedule, stopped all mushy foods, removed all nest-like toys or material that could be construed as nest material, and stopped petting her anywhere except her head. So far, I have not noticed an improvement. I'm thinking of giving it one more week before making the appointment with my vet.

Thanks all.

In the last thread MonicaMC gave you a ton of resources for positive reinforcement and retraining work with birds. Have you exhausted all of these methods already? If not you need to use these before resorting to medication. Also, from your previous posts it sounds like Tiki is flighted. I know it is a hot topic issue with parrot people, but for the sake of controlling her you really should clip her at least temporarily. You need to be able to control her access to your body and especially your face. If I were in your position, I would rebuild the relationship from the ground up starting hands off with a t-perch. Maybe you have already tried this but in your previous post you only state you have tried aversives (toweling, putting her on the floor etc.).
