Ceiling fan injury

Hello, I have a peach head conure who we believe hit the ceiling fan (we are unsure what happened he flew into a room with a ceiling fan on however the vet doesn't want to rule out any of the cats or walls). We have seen the emergency vet the night it occurred and the day after with the normal vet. They believe he will live however his eye is swollen (when it happened the entire eye was red) and they don't know if it will heal and be usable. We have eye drops to help fight infection in it.

The problem is-
He keeps scratching it though which I feel is making the eye worse. My biggest fear is infection in the eye

He also is sleeping quite a bit, he will be active for a short time, drinks, eats and is curious but he does take a lot of naps. He is tucking his head into his back and balancing with one foot most of the time.

Is there any way to prevent him from scratching his eye to avoid infection/irritation and a way to make him more comfortable?

They do have those little cone collars. I used one for a cocketiel once who had surgery for a prolapsed uterus. She didn't like it but t worked for a day to get her through the worst of it.

Thank you. I found one on Amazon but the swelling has gone down quite a bit yesterday, so I'm hoping by the time it arrives to my house it'll be unnecessary. He is acting much better than when I first posted.

I hope it makes a full and speedy recovery. Make sure he eats and rests plenty, and is unstressed and in secure surroundings as possible.
