Today my Perjo ate some mustard greens and about 20 minutes later she seemed to be trying to swallow constantly, her neck was making the same motion we would if we couldn't get food down and kept trying to swallow. She was not making any noise nor seemed panicked at all, but I got concerned quickly.
Called the local animal bird hospital which had a doctor on call, and I explained the situation, I suspected she had something she couldn't get down all the way. He was great and explained our pets will surely exhibit signs of real panicked if they are truly choking or even fear they are. Said change where she is sitting and make her do something that requires a little effort, if she does it fine she's most likely quite fine.
She was.
Figured I'd share the story and tip, a choking pet is scary bc it's more difficult to assist them than it is a choking person.
