Hey everyone can i get some feedback as to if this "Granite" coated cast aluminum frying pan i brought is bird safe? I had both of our birds sitting on my shoulder as i was cooking up some lamb for dinner tonight. I i know about the gas that teflon coated pans can let off. I wonder if this pan has teflon on the outside and the granite on the inside???.Here are some pictures of it. I Hope the pan ok i paid a million dollars for it! 😊

The problem with all non-stick cookware is when it is overheated. under normal use they are not dangerous. It is only when you forget you have something on the burner and it overheats. all non-stick coatings are like this. All. Sorry. We threw out all our nonstick pans pre salty, an my wife had a huge collection as a great former chef. Now we use st st or iron .
Heck if your a good cook nothing should be sticking to the bottoms anyway. Your choice, but be aware. GL

In general just a small point to remember if you don't have the pan(s) over the gas correctly it burns the handle(s) which give off awful fumes.

Is this the pan you have? If so I am not sure OK?

Yeah thats it. I dont use it on a gas cook top and i carefull not to let the handle get hot. So what do you think? All good?? [emoji2]

Personally I dont allow my birds near the kitchen while cooking or while any stove is on...i dont allow anything with teflon in the house including hair dryers however the kitchen while you are cooking has a whole lot more dangers than just not having a teflon pan. There is boiling water and the stove itself and a zillion other unseen accidents waiting to happen....I know you may say the birds are well trained and will remain on the shoulder but it only takes an instant for the best trained parrot to get spooked and fly into danger. In our house while cooking the kitchen is a no go area for the parrots.

Glass top or gas top it doesn't matter. if it overheats Beyond a certain range the coating will break down and release toxic fumes that will kill your bird in minutes. And bird girl is correct birds do not belong around a kitchen. all it takes is for the birds to get scared and jump off into hot skillet or pan or bowl. Roast caique has no meat on it, so no point in being near a stove,

I find that my stainless Steele pans don't stick and are easy to clean :) they weren't expensive either.

So right.. stst pans with a copper bottom, or copper pad insert are great pans.. cook evenly, and as long as you don't burn the crap out of your food, are easy clean. And bird safe.

Correction.... roast IRN has even less meat then a caique. Ekkies have more but the meats tough. No birds in the kitchen.
