Pineapple & Sunshine--Gray/wildtype male cockatiels
So, we started off with a bad accident of Pineapple flying into a mirror. He injured his cere, which began to bleed quite a bit. Not having styptic powder, I dried it the old fashioned way by using flour. I accidentally poured too much flour on his head, and a lot went into his nose. I'm really starting to worry now because it sounds almost as if he's having labored breathing, or some sort of sneezing/wheezing. I expected some of this, but it's been several minutes since the treatment and he's still making this popping sound with his nose as we speak. Will he be alright, or did I just create another emergency?

I think I might have just been overreacting... he stopped making that popping sound with his nose. Now, he's just really tired. He's in bed now, and I'm hoping he wakes up feeling better.

Oh goodness I'm so sorry! I'd suggest you watch him CLOSELY, and if he has any more breathing issues get him to a vet. Personally if it were me, I'd take him anyway just to be sure, especially after the episode and bleeding, but I'm always a worry-wart lol!!
Glad to hear the noise has stopped, I hope all stays well and he's bright and chipper in the am!! = )

Oh no Pineapple, shame he must have got such a huge fright from flying into the mirror. Poor you and him.:(

I dont know if you have this in your country but Eclipse told me to buy some and they work wonderful for parrot and mom. Its cold Rescue drops - it calms you both right down.

I hope you both feel better real soon.

Thank you everyone!

Pineapple is doing much better. He's all rested up, and is breathing just fine. If anything, that flour in his nose just annoyed him. Poor guy... I hope he forgives me.

Perhaps a handful of spinach will make it all better. ;)

I'm so glad this was nothing serious!

Max has flown into the French doors a couple times, but that was way back when he just started to fly again and had trouble navigating. He and Ruby have both tried to land on the hands of my 48" round wall clock. Luckily, neither of them was injured but when Ruby tried it, she knocked the hour hand lose and it's take a couple weeks to get it working correctly again.
