With the cooler/dryer season upon us I have noticed Phoebe peeling dead skin off of her feet. Normally right after a bath when it's softer and easier to remove. I don't see any red or irritated patches, but was wondering if there's something I can do to help her. Her primary perches are natural Manzanita and she has her climbing rope. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

Consider applying a light amount of coconut oil after a shower. Check the humidity level in your home. You do not want to be below a reading of 45. I like mid fifties, or a little higher, as a target. Watch for moisture on your windows on an on going bases, that's too high for your home.

Be watchful of red and/or irritated!

Assure that the diameters of the Perches is on the large size for roosting. Your larger MAC maybe happier on 4" (100 mm) diameter perches.

Thanks will try the coconut oil and humidity test. She has perches ranging from 2.5-4.5 inches in diameter.

Took the words right out of my mouth! Coconut oil! I know a guy with a Cockatoo that has chronically dry feet and he picks them apart, and he uses a soft toothbrush and brushes coconut oil all over his feet once a week, works like a charm!

I must thank you again for this post as my U2 also has the dry feet and I have oiled them down a couple of time and also started putting oil in his food the feet look much better and he is no longer picking at them so much. I made a vet apt for next week may not go if I see more progress over the weekend. I'm using Macadamia nut oil.

thanks again
