So I wound up taking P back to the vets office, we did a full physical, feather smear, and blood work. Physical showed inflammation in the areas she has been plucking (plucking pin feathers only), feather cultural showed inflammation and bacteria in the feather follicle. The first part of the CBC was good just waiting on her white blood count to come back. She was given more anti inflammatories and a two week course of baytril. The vet also ordered her a fleece e-collar to help alleviate her inflammation. My questions are: Does anyone have tricks for giving meds cause I can only get her to accept a lick at a time without flinging it everywhere and I would like to keep using the syringe since food gets flung whether its her favorite or not and the fleece e-collar on a flighted bird? If anyone has any tips tricks or info that would be awesome!
Thanks!:(

Lots of parrots, most of them rescues
I have never had a collar on a flighted bird, so no advice there, but I have some for the meds. I get my birds used to getting fruit juice from a syringe. This makes meds via syringe easier as they are used to the syringe has tasty stuff in and they gulp anything from there.

As you have not already gotten her used to yummy stuff from a syringe, I would start now to offer her fruit juice during the day and at least get her to not know if it's yummy or meds :)

We used to break out the big guns for ollies meds...melted ice cream in a spoon. I know, junk food, but only a little and he needed the medicine. Sometimes I could put it in mashed sweet potato or oatmeal. Eventually he learned to identify the taste of the medicine and we had to change the food.
