Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Salty, my yellow shoulder Amazon, had a spray bottle shower today, Nothing new to him, although this was a good soaking, he has had many before. About 3-4 hours later, he is sneezing regularly, feels like a bit of moisture comes out with the air, against my cheek. COuld he possibly be sneezing out water in his passageways? I am getting worried. He has been playing like normal, after getting dried off with a hot air source directed at him and his cage, again, like normally.

Should I be worried about the sneezing??

That seems like an awful long time after being bathed/dried to still be sneezing out water, especially if it was only a "spray" bath, but I'm sure it's possible if he got a bunch of water down into his sinuses. If he's still acting normally, playing normally, eating, etc. then I wouldn't be too worried right now, but if he's still sneezing tomorrow I'd take him to his avian vet just to be safe.

He only did it for 20 min or so, and now, a few hours after the original post, he isn't sneezing at all. We'll watch him closely til bed time at 10PM, and if he does it again or tomorrow, to the Vet he goes. With Saltys history of nasal issues, we take any issue with his nares seriously.

Usually after I give Lincoln a shower he'll sneeze a little during and a bit after. Then he doesn't sneeze afterthought like until I give him another shower. It's pretty safe to say it's likely just water but take a look at the nostrils and see if they're inflamed or anything. See anything concerning maybe take him to the vet.

Oh, will be thinking about you guys and watching for the updates. We used to give Oliver spray baths but he didn't like his face wet so didn't spray him there. He never kicked his respiratory thing, though. Vet warned me to always let spray bottle dry and use fresh water because he had pseudomonas which thrives in wet places. Please don't be sick, Salty baby.

Oh, gosh, thanks, Ms. K. I'll change the water every time now.

Yeah, come on, Salty!
