What do people think of this pre-made kit?

Besides not having a good antiseptic on hand I do have most of what this kit contains, it's just interesting to see it. It's a new product on this site (which is UK based).

For those how are not comfortable search medical supply WebSites or Store Fronts, plus asking their staff for assistance it gets the very basic 'stuff' together quickly.

At present, the last Segment in the I Love Amazons - ... Thread found in the Amazon Forum is what could be considered a fairly complete Medical Emergency, First Aid Kit. That kit represents what a fairly well trained individual would use to care for a wide cross-section of emergencies to stabilize a Parrot to then quickly move them to a Certified Avian Vet (CAV), plus handle the day-in, day-out occurrences our Parrots seem to be able to get themselves into.

The biggest problem that I have with Store Purchased Bird First Aid Kits is that the container is grossly undersized since it can only handle what is supplied and barely any more. And that is a problem, since a hand towel is a very important part of any First Aid Kit. I have a wash cloth, hand towel and bath towel and clearly that would never fit. FYI: I use the bath towel laid on the ground and than pour the contains starting from one end across to the other end. This allows quickly find what you need in place of digging though the Kit! Plus, I can simply roll the contains up in the towel when we shift from stabilizing to transporting the Parrot.

Find a store that has a large cross-section of 'clear' plastic containers. Target one with a fast grab handle (large in place of small and pretty). Second, one that has solid snap locks (at least two) and large enough to hold everything except the two towels. I place the two towels in the Amazon sized carrier (three piece plastic cat carrier) with the First Aid Kit on top of the carrier. This way, if we are transporting the Parrot, the First Aid Kit comes with us!!!!

NOTE: The further you are in time and distance from a 24 hour per day care center that will take Parrots, the more extensive the Kit needs to be and the more training you should have.

Some will state that this is way overboard! I cannot express how wrong they are 'when' you need and do not have!!! In most cases, the staff at the emergency care facility will talk you though what you need to do to stabilize your Parrot. Because, unless you regularly re-train, you will freeze! Having the needed supplies and being talked though what needs to be done will likely save your Parrot!

Do not go cheap of the hardware. Buy at least mid-quality or better. There is nothing more mentally draining than to have what your need fail as you are using it!

We have upgraded our Kit to include 'Human Sized' stuff and use the kit for everyone! NOTE: After you use the Kit, REPLACE WHAT YOU USED!

Here is a link from Birdline on what they recommend. Seems daft spending money if you do not need to ie just have those things together in a clean plastic box IMO.
