Eating less?

I've noticed that my 6 month old b&g Macaws food dish isn't emptying as much lately.

Over the last month I've put his food in his dish and it just seems like he's not 'eating' as much.

Either he's not eating as much or he's gotten better at not wasting as much.

I've had him to the vet but he can't find anything wrong and believes Rhage is getting ready for the normal slimb down after his weaning. He finally went a while week without asking for his formula after going 2 weeks picking what days he wanted it. His last hand feeding was about 5.5 weeks ago.

I've been weighing him everyday for the month and he's keeping steady at 1lb 14oz. Vet said he looks good, droppings are normal size and constancy, he's well hydrated, beak and mouth look good.... And he's still his goofy self with his occasional tantrums.

The vet recommended just to be sure, cover the bottom of the cage with newspaper and monitor if he's actually just tossing it for eating. He's still loving his fruits and veg and his banana chips. It's just his pellet/seed I've noticed his bowl looking 3/4 full.

Has anyone else seen this?

If your vet is happy, andRhage's weight is steady, and he's his usual goofy self... I bet everything's fine. I like the newspaper idea, though. Why not?

Weigh Rhage;s food bowl, tare it out, then weigh how much you put in it.
If you really want to be accurate, also collect the uneaten pellets from the bottom of his cage. We do this once in awhile with Salty just to reassure our selves he is not just wasting the pellets.
