sounds great that she's getting better, eating grit has obviously done the tick. Maybe something was "stuck" in her and needed breaking down. I will say in regards to the UK it depends on the species. Budgies are recommended to have grit here but many others it's not recommended.

On another note 15 is very old for a budgie so I would say it's an idea to prepare yourself mentally for the end

Re: Vomiting and Nausea

Yeah, you wouldn't believe how much better she's been feeling! In North America, we're told NOT to give our birds grit, because it supposedly causes impaction. Budgies are ESPECIALLY not supposed to have grit. The general sense you get from reading this stuff is that parrots will swallow anything they can get their beaks on (not true), and most parrots are too stupid to realize that grit is not food.

I know grit is a controversial topic, but just seeing the effects of responsible grit usage firsthand goes to show that it shouldn't be demonized the way it is in North America. Just like the use of rope perches, you just have to be mindful of what your birds are like and monitor them. I've used rope perches for years without problems because I know what my birds are like. A different bird, on the other hand, might immediately run over to a perch, shred it, and swallow a bunch of strings. It depends on the individual bird in question and the quality of the product being used.

Honestly, the whole grit thing was just an act of desperation on my part. It's a fluke that ingesting grit was the solution.

And, yeah, I know she's ancient. I know I need to be prepared for the inevitable. But one's never prepared for death, especially not the death of someone you've known for so long.

Re: Vomiting and Nausea

Well, I've been consulting with Dr. Ross Perry, because she started vomiting again on Wednesday. Anyways, he did some dowsing and invoked the nature spirits or something, and he says she's suffering from heavy metal poisoning. I ordered the holistic medicine and I'm curious to see whether or not he's right. Water dowsing is real, but I don't know about the way he's dowsing.
