Should I bring Timneh in for another physical before winter?

So Timneh had a check up in Spring pretty much as soon as the weather was warm enough. Should I make another appointment before winter comes again or wait till spring? Thanks for the help. I've only used Timnehs travel bag twice no but she really is not a big fan. I've had it open and in view since I got Timneh pretty much. Can't say I blame her once someone gives you up travel carriers are probably no longer your best friend. Do you think it's possible Timneh worries about being surrendered again when she goes in the travel bag? It's a new one I had bought for her.

Once a year for a healthy Parrot is about right!

If you are follow a variation in the chems from the last blood screen or if your Parrot (Timneh) is providing seasonal variation in body weight, etc... Your schedule is great.

With a healthy Parrot, I commonly recommend either a three or five quarter (three month period) to assure that the blood screening sees natural variation though the year (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winder).

As always, any variation out of normal should have you seeing your CAV (Certified Avian Vet) ASAP.

As part of the Amazon Forum is the Large Sticky Thread that is Titled: I Love Amazons - ... You will find a number of Segments that are dedicated to Avian Vet Care. Please take the time to review those Segments.

FYI: The Thread: I Love Amazons - ... was developed to support the Amazon Forum. That said, it is a great information base for near any Parrot!!!

Enjoy!

Put her in it and take her out if only for a walk so she doesnt just associate vet visits with it. Going out is really good, go on try it! :)

Do you think it's worth taking her for a walk in the travel bag if I have to towel her to get her into it? I would love to take her for a little walk.

I had to force Plum in his and sometimes he is chased by Mr Towel but once he is on the perch I can leave the front open and he doesnt escape, sits waiting to go. Fickle creatures!

ensure something nice to eat in there as well!

As stated above, you really want to associate the travel carrier as a neat place to willing climb into, because of the fun places everyone goes. We travel near weekly and as we are preparing, our Amazon is standing on top of his carrier wanting us to open the door! Thank was not true when he first arrived in one at our home. His view of the carry was very different than.

We will try and do some playing in her carrier today. Gotta wait till Monday for temperature to get back into the 70's for a little walk. Next summer Timneh will be in her harness

Have you been following Wrench13's Salty and the videos of him putting a Harness of Salty? One of the big take-aways from the video is the extensive level of handling that Salty is very comfortable with - that I believe is the most important part of being able to place a Parrot in a harness!

See Amazon Forum for the Video of Salty having his harness put on.

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
letting him see a big pile of treats enter the carrier won't hurt either! I hung Rio's little carrier on a curtain pole by his cage and let him see me put treats inside it, after about an hour of inspection he had a look inside, found the treats and decided it was a cozy spot that he could watch me from (he also found that landing on the door flap and climbing up that was fun)

Maybe try just having it out and let him see treats going in. Let him get in and out and find out it's not there to trap him. When he appears comfy you can slowly close it and let him come outside to see the neighbourhood
