Does this look funny to you. WHen we were in the sunlight it seemed off color. She uses this foot more than the other because of her accident with her toe and the loss of the nail. Thanks for the help.

P.s. she was playing on a gallon water jug and the top got pretty jagged and I took it away. Didn’t notice any redness though.

DYH Amazon
Parrot feet will drive one nuts at the variations provided by any number of factors from: surface temperature, color of the surface, the type of surface, blood flow and the difference in temperature from one claw to the other (one is lifted and warm, and the other is on a cold surface). Also, the normal skin flaking that occurs with the presents of new skin now exposed next to an older piece or section.

My DYH Amazon will truly drive one nuts. As he has no real color to his nails, and claws. Some days, they appear clear (nails) to pink and the skin can be from a flush of light red to a pale white. Without looking closely, some days it looks like he has a small cut area. He also, has a segment of claw and nail that had been lost at some point long ago! The skin cover at the end is thin compared to the balance of that toe and more than one, I had a double look as to whether he had cut it open.

Because he has a couple of areas with thin skin, we keep a fairly close watch of this nails, toes and claws. And, the look on his face - You people are acting odd again. Stop it!

My only advice is join the group of Parrot Foot Watchers! We are just a bit more crazy than the common; Crazy Parrot Person Group.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I don't see anything alarming. Like Sailboat said, there is a lot of variation!

Thank you so much for taking a look. They just seemed to look different in the. Right sun light that here in Vermont we get very little of.

Does it look funny? Man, it looks like some kind of dinosaur foot. What are you keeping, velociraptors?

Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Good on you for asking though. I am always checking the bottom of Salty's feet, after reading that section of Sailboats Amazon treatise. If the light is right it looks like there is a red patch on his, but examination in sunlight, and using my glasses, all looks normal. At least he just lays there and lets me look for awhile, I'd imagine it might be hard with a parrot not as used to being put on his back. I look for redness, or raw looking skin, of anything weird.
