Squeaky the Goffins was born with an oddly inwardly turned upper beak. The vet proclaimed he would be viable and learn to eat, and might even self-correct with age. As he developed, the beak continued to grow abnormally, so a prosthesis of a plaster-type material was fitted. Amazingly, he tolerated it well, and when removed he was closer to normal. Eventually, his beak was indistinguishable from any other Goffins!

World-class vet action there... did the vet do the prosthesis or just prescribe it????

The vet had heard of fitting prostheses but never done so. After a bit of research he was confident, built one from scratch, but felt the effectiveness would depend on Squeaky's tolerance. He was fed mostly baby formula for the duration, and I really can't remember how long!

The vet initially thought he might need some sort of lifetime beak grooming, but no! Squeaky's beak has never been altered or trimmed after the prosthesis was removed.

Was sorting through an old drawer and found Squeaky's prosthesis. Forgot I had saved it! Also a document stating his hatch date of 1-30-1998.... he is 20!
