I never learn
Left Jack alone for one minute and he seems to have eaten a small mouse bone I had cleaned from an owl pellet. All I can find on the floor are little shards so if he did indeed eat it he must have crumbled it up a little at least.

Given that birds eat cuttlefish bones and grit, do I need to do anything other than monitor him and assume it will be digested? It was cleaned with hydrogen peroxide and thoroughly rinsed with hot water, plus the owl pellet it came in was treated for bacteria.

Yipes!

I hope you have an avian vet... and I'd be calling their emergency number. It's probably fine, I guess, maybe, hopefully, possibly... but... as the Queen of Paranoia, I'd rather be safe than sorry!

I don't really feel qualified to give you a confident answer, so I do hope you have a qualified vet.

Good luck! Keep us posted, please!

P.S.
I don't know how you treated the pellet for bacteria, but I wonder if that material might be toxic...
Yeah, vet time!

Called my vets urgent care number and they said as long as he's still eating, having normal poops, being active, ect. he should be okay. I'll for sure take him in for an x-ray if he starts acting funny.

I tried not to ask this, I left the forum, but I can't help myself...

Why in the hell did you remove a mouse bone from an Owl, ahem, "pellet" and clean it with peroxide in the first place?

I'm sorry, I just couldn't let it goooo...

To phrase it as non-disturbing as possible, I'm part of the 'vulture culture' community that collects and displays ethically-sourced bones. I just think they're neat. With the owl pellet I was indeed hoping to put together a full skeleton but I guess I'll be short a few pieces.
