Hello friends!
Iā€™m attempting to put together some info and Iā€™d love it if you could help me with a general idea of costs in your area for the following. Please only answer if you have purchased or received a direct cost quote from your vet clinic.
THANK YOU!

State/province
Cost for CBC (blood work)
Cost for gram stain/fecal smear
Cost for external parasite screen
Cost for general exam

We visit Julio's CAV every 15 months for his annual check-up. This normally is based around a hands-on healthy Parrot examination and a CBC blood testing. If anything is highlighted during either, more tests or diet changes occur. The 15 month schedule allows for the CBC to occur in each 1/4 of a year (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) over a five year period.

Earlier this Month was the great day! No one died and only a very limited number of very minor skin injuries as the CAV and Avian Tech came to remember just how strong a walk-about /fly-about Amazon is.

Since this was a normal event, I did not have it quoted, nor did I request the costs to be broken out. The total cost was $279.51.
Price based on a 30 minute visit with both a CAV and an Avian Vet Tech participating, plus me helping. Yes, I did get the Evil Amazon Eye for helping!

Location: Western Michigan, USA

FYI: Since the examination was a full hands-on, a skin check was part of the examination: Any skin issues caused by a parasite would have resulted in further examination and testing.

Senegal Parrot named "Kane"; Yellow-Sided Green Cheek Conure named "Bowie"; Blue Quaker Parrot named "Lita Ford"; Cockatiel named "Duff"; 8 American/English Budgie Hybrids; Ringneck Dove named "Dylan"
I take all of my guys once every year, but I'm taking 4 birds (I usually only do one at a time, sometimes I'll take Bowie and Lita together because they are bonded and safe to have together in the carrier, but sometimes the stress causes some "attitudes", so we usually do 4 separate trips)...I know that I do get a discount per overall visit due to doing 4 birds every year, and they all go within a week or so of each other...So keep that in mind when I list these prices...

I grabbed last year's bills, they are all the same as far as the individual prices for each bird...And this is a Certified Avian Vet, just in case that matters (I'm assuming a CAV is usually going to be more expensive than an Exotics Vet, maybe not..)

Office Visit: $45
Blood-Work: $120
Lab Fee: $20
Fecal Culture: $25
Fecal Micro: $20
Rads: $75 (regular x-ray)

So that's it for each bird...I always have a regular x-ray done on each of them once a year, just to look at their livers, kidneys, etc., to look for any masses, etc. That's my choice and not a part of my CAV's "wellness exam"...

Some of the cost had to pay just 3 months ago, so is current. For Cockatoos a B&G Macaw and cockatiel is what I bought in recently. Do keep receipts, so is accurate. Prices are pretty much the same for all species of birds.
