Noodles in taking an antibiotic that she HATES.
I wasted a dose thinking she would take it on a chip fragment. Threw it 3 feet.
So, now I have mixed a dose with some oatmeal, and she ate about half...I need her to eat the rest, so I have removed other food sources in hopes that she will eat it when she is hungry.
I mixed it around 12:30pm....will the remaining antibiotic stay viable if it takes her another hour to eat the rest of the "contaminated" oatmeal?
the medication is : Enrofloxacin* (.15 ml 2x daily)--AKA Baytril

I believe so, it's pretty stable. I'd go ahead and add a little sugar to the oatmeal. A spoon full of sugar does indeed help the medicine go down! Though a sprinkle will do the trick I'm sure!

If you want to try something else, I swear by s very pure, low-oil almond butter, for the Rb's twice-daily Enalapril. It mixes and clumps up nicely and he LOVES it.

2 umbrella Cockatoos One male named Cooper and female named Baby 1 Little Corella male named Frankie and have 5 Cockatiels three named Male named Pepper, Fiesco for the female and female named Wylie.
My female Umbrella cockatoo hates Enrofloxacin as well. I usually trick her with a syringe of water at first then the Enrofloxacin. She take it then and then shake her head like a bad taste in mouth.

Is there a type that specifies "low oil" or are you just implying that almond better in general is low-oil? I am intrigued.

There are two kinds I use... one is locally-manufactured and has only almonds and sea salt, and by request, they drain most of the oil off and leave out the salt... it's a delicious but very dry butter that really soaks the meds up. When I can't get that, I buy a brand called "Wild Friends" that my 'net research told me was respectable stuff, and has only almonds and sea salt. The directions say to mix the surface oil in, but I drain it off, to get the dry texture that works with meds. Both these mixes are so delicious! I sneak spoons of it myself, night and day.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I've used oatmeal, applesauce, organic peanut butter w/o any additives, or small amount of fruit smoothie.

Depending on illness, ensuring a full dose is so important a bit of less than ideal (but safe) substrate is reasonable.

Ms Gail...where can you get this stuff? Do you go to a health food place? Just curious incase I have problems with Beebs..rather have him nosh on something that he might like then have him hate me after ten days of torturing him.
