Is the Rb trying to become an Amazon??
Is this some kind of awful symptom?
He just saw his avian doctor last week, and he got the usual comprehensive tests. Then yesterday I saw THIS! I had to "comb" his feathers just right to get a photo. The little feather is vivid yellow, just like his belly.

As usual, he presents me with an issue during closed hours. I will call on Monday and ask about it.

Does anybody know what's up????????????

I wouldn’t worry about it. Freak feathers can occur, and given you just got the all clear just a couple weeks ago, I highly doubt this is indicative of a health issue. Enjoy the special gift :)

THANK YOU, Chris! Thank you! It really is a beautiful little thing...

I'll have to ask The Amazon Snob if the Rb cam be an honorary Yellow Nape!

As you may recall, RB had entered a request a couple of years ago and that document continues to slowly work its way within the paperwork system. A number of 'events' has slowed its progress. It will be interesting to see if this latest feather 'event' amps the movement of the document.

As noted above, more likely RB playing with your head then an issue with his overall health.

Yeah, you know very well that he has done this 100% on-purpose to drive you insane. It's the weekend, he's looking for entertainment...

I've seen weird, totally out-of-place, freak feathers pop-up out of nowhere on lots of birds. At least this one matches A COLOR that Rickybird already has on his body...I've seen a totally white/cream colored Umbrella Cockatoo sprout a bright-yellow feather in it's tail out of nowhere...

I'd call your CAV on Monday to report RB's most-recent drama, but I wouldn't at all worry about it until then.

I do recall that earlier venture, and yeah, maybe the feather adds a bit more specificity. Species-ificity.

Awwww, Mr. Boats, he wants to be a Yellow Nape!

None. My wife has one too many. Kidding!
Thanks, Ellen. And everybody. The Missus was climbing the walls when she found this. Where do I buy chill pills, anyway?
Hey Boats, I wouldn't let this Bird into the ranks. Lay with dogs, wake up with fleas, all that.

Thanks, Ellen. Yeah, it's a perfect match for his belly. So weird, though! If I didn't love him so much, I'd choke him.

Rival... QUIET!

Sometimes when a feather follicle gets damaged, a new feather will grow in in a different color-- a color matching feathers somewhere else on the parrot. My adopted Grey has a history of plucking and once in a while, a red feather will grow in among the gray ones. If it hasn't happened before, it would be a little surprising. :D

Gail, could it be that RB is just wearing a bright new yellow feather to celebrate Spring and attract the ladies?

CNY... thank you! Yeah, all these years. I guess he still has a few tricks up his sleeve/wing!

Allee... I wouldn't put it past him.
