So as of today Lincoln has been having very watery poops (picture below) and I'm not sure what to do or think of it. Could it be a side effect to his meds? (metacam + enrofloxacin) could it be that I've added pellets to his daily diet? (TOPs) or something else? I plan on calling his vet but I'm really stressing out here.

So since once of his meds is an antibiotic they suspect that his GI is a little out of balance so they prescribed a probiotic and just advise I keep a close eye

How much has he been eating while on the meds? I sent a photo like that to my get when Cairo was on some anti-vomit meds, and they send it was because he wasn't eating enough.

He's been eating a good lot. More than most days even. He'll scrape his bowl clean of chop and still have room for pellets.

Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
My BB (cockatiel) has had,and it has come back! Something very similar as your baby has. When his Doc examined his poo there was way too much of a certain bacteria (forget what it's called) and Beebs was given a prescription for an bacterial infection. It cleared up in two days to where his poo looked perfect.

After carefully examining his cage,I discovered that at at night time,he would percg right above his water bowl and poop in it! Oh my Lord I almost got ill when I discovered that! I just couldn't imaging the poor boy drinking his own poo!
I moved his bowl and his poo cleared up once again, but now it is back again:confused: I don't know if him being given med's,and me moving his bowl just happened to co-inside with this?? It looks like it will be ANOTHER trip to Doc Kristin..this will make the third time for the same reason :confused:

It's most-likely because the Baytril he's been taking has killed-off all of the beneficial bacteria throughout his GI Tract. The addition of the daily Probiotic whenever he takes any antibiotics will stop that from happening...

He's had two doses of the probiotics so far (he loves it... it's a gel and he just gobbles it right up lol) and his poops appear to be back to normal, still gonna keep an eye out though.

Is it Benebac gel? Either way it's working...I suggest putting him on a Probiotic from now on any time he's put on an Antibiotic, and give him the Probiotic every day for at least a week AFTER he finishes the Antibiotic...They usually put birds on very broad-spectrum Antibiotics, such as Baytril/Enrofloxacin, and these very broad-spectrum Antibiotics kill-off literally ALL of the good/normal/beneficial bacteria that normally lives throughout their GI Tracts, and that helps them properly digest their food and make it into "bulk"...So that's why it becomes so watery. So that bacteria needs to be replaced..

****What you really need to watch for now, especially since ALL of his normal, healthy bacteria was wiped-out of his GI Tract, is the chance of him developing a secondary Fungal/Yeast infection throughout his GI Tract...And if I remember correctly Lincoln is a plucker, or was a plucker, and one of the most common causes of them first starting to pluck is a systemic Fungal/Yeast infection that typically starts in their GI Tract and then spreads rapidly to being all over their skin and in their feather-follicles...So if you see him at all starting to over-preen/pluck in the next week or two, then he needs to have his skin swabbed by your CAV, and typically they don't even have to send the swab out to a lab...I have done probably hundreds of skin-swabs of birds who have come into the Rescue as active-pluckers, and all I have to do is take the swab and make a smear of it on a slide and pop it under my microscope, and you can immediately see nothing but Yeast all over the slide...Then you know that they need to be put on a course of Anti-Fungal medication, like Nystatin, as well as being put on a daily Probiotic supplement...

Actually, you might want to think about giving Lincoln a daily Probiotic supplement anyway, for the rest of his life, especially if he has a history of plucking...A lot of pluckers are misdiagnosed as having some type of behavioral or psychological issues that are causing their plucking because the Vet never bothers to simply look at a swab of their skin under a microscope...A lot of the time they run all kinds of blood-work, they do microscopy of their fecal samples and send them out to be plated and grown, etc., but they never just take a quick topical skin-swab and look at it under the microscope to find out that they are covered with Yeast, which is extremely itchy and painful (it burns, just like Athlete's Foot or Jock Itch)...I have been giving ALL of my birds, including my 8 Budgies and my Ringneck Dove, a daily dose of Qwiko Avian Probiotic sprinkled on their seed-mix or pellets every morning for years, and none of them have ever had any infections and none of them pluck or barber...It certainly can't hurt them at all, it can only help, so why not...

It is benebac gel. I will look into giving lincoln it from now on and I will definitely ask the vet to do a skin swab.
