So I have been looking into this because I'm having a hard time settlign my own mind. I saw a coupel thread about this but given what i saw on laskos web site i wanted to see if anyone had recent advice without necroing a year plus old thread.

I have a pair of Ekkie juveniles (about 5 months old) and it's starting to cool down and I notice them puffing up and what looks like shivering a bit in the last two weeks when they are not being active, which they are regularly, but i worry about them getting uncomfortably cold especially at night. Now the thermometer in the room says it's 70-72 degrees but its' an old house and it isn't drafty but heat can be inconsistent in places, I do cover them at night. I did get them heated perches but i wanted to maybe setup a small space heater. My roomate helpign out picked up a lasko ceramic heat (CC1370). I was doign due diligence before using it and found a bunch of conflicting information.

I found discussion threads saying they are safe (none more recent than 2016), some people saying they might be unsafe, some saying they've used them without problems, etc... So i hit up laskos website and found this in their Heater FAQ:

Can I use my Lasko heater around birds or pets?

- Yes. Lasko heaters are not made with any materials that would harm pets. See question #24 if you have birds.

Does my Lasko heater have Teflon? Can I use it around my birds?

- We understand that birds are more sensitive than other animals and to our knowledge, Teflon is not found in our products. However, there could be other compounds found in the product that could potentially be harmful to birds. Therefore, we do not recommend the use of our products around birds.

Now absent of new information i'm gonna take it back, but if it is actually safe and some one can say whether they have used them or not that would help. I don't want to not have a heating backup to make my babies more comfortable while they adjust to teh house and their first winter just because of paranoia, but i certainly never want to endanger them if I can knowingly avoid it.

Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Should be safe. We have a lasko tower we use occasionally.

I am exploring infrared heating for Parker’s room this winter so we can have the tower in our bedroom, but still debating. Just to let you know, more than anything, if you’re concerned, infrared heaters are an option.
