Broken feathers

So my Brio is 6 months old now and has become really good at flying and landing, he really enjoys it and I love watching it. A while back though I noticed a big feather broken off lying on the ground, and this week it happened again and this time I saw the cause of it, he was twisting and turning in a narrow spot of the couch and the feather was loose and bothering him that day. I felt pretty bad about it and I've fixed the issue.

But those are some important feathers he has lost on the same wing, I hope it doesn't affect his flying. They were broken off so I don't think he pulled them out, hopefully this means they will grow back fully. so I'm just wondering about the timeframe on that as well for the Pionus? Appriciate the help.

If he's only missing a few feathers he should still be able to fly fine, they should grow back next molt which can take up to a year depending how old those feathers were. I know you said they broke off, is that meaning part of the feather broke and the rest is still in the bird? If the whole feather came out and there was no blood it was due to fall out.

This is what I found. I did not see any blood on him or the feathers.

Yup, those look broken to me, I'm pretty sure breaking a feather is like breaking a nail, it doesn't hurt if there's no blood, they will grow back once the rest of the feather falls out, it could take a while.

Well it happened again this week, another loose big feather on the same spot. This time I haven't found the feather later, maybe it actually fell out naturally. He has a large gap on one wing now and it is clearly affecting his ability to fly now. It's upsetting, I'm really looking out for him so nothing happens outside the cage. Maybe it's happening inside his cage somehow when I'm gone, where he keeps hitting a toy or perch, I don't know.
