Hey guys, today one of my biggest nightmares came true (maybe a bit dramatic)

My ringneck Kiwi likes to sit on top of the doors, she usually picks up the highest object in the room to sit on and thats usually the door..

The door was closed, when one of the kids who were visiting opened it she was trying to fly to the other room, she saw her flying towards the door and quickly tried to close it before she reached but she already reached it.. thank god she didnt fully close the door and opened it quick!! I didn’t see what happened as I was preparing food but i heard her screaming and she was flying in circles

I will never forgive myself for being so irresponsible, i should have known better and should have put her in her cage until the kids were gone... (she free roams, her cage is always open so she decides where to go..)

Now, nothing too big happened, no signs of blood no harm to the beak or anything but i think some of the feathers above her beak got pulled and the area seems swollen... i called 4 vets but they are all closed so i have to wait until tomorrow.. she also doesn’t sound like herself and she kind of makes this sound you would have if your voice would be gone and you’d try to speak instead of her usual baby voice, thats what concerns me the most because she isnt showing signs of pain shes grooming herself and even scritching her head but her voice is really weird.. here are some pictures

You could try calling a CAV out of town with different hours for consultation...could just say, "I am in the area visiting a friend and blah blah blah"...Just sayin'....
or be honest and just ask for advice.

I live in the middle east, they don’t really have these types of things for animals here unfortunately, so i’ll have to wait until morning to get her checked

I've never had this happen to my bird before, but in general (with head trauma), they say keep things warm (not hot), calm and dim. I haven't looked at the pictures, but I will. Eating, drinking and preening normally is good, but you are right to be concerned about the change of voice and get your bird in tomorrow.
It could be swelling that is impacting the sound but I am not an expert on these types of injuries.

Thank you! I put her in a warm room, she lost appetite at first but after some minutes she started behaving as normal, i’ll update when i get her checked, hope this is a warning for others to be more careful with the doors as well as i know a lot of parrots love them
