We are going to visit my parents and this year Noodles will have to sleep in the same room with their fresh xmas tree---They always get a real tree and she has been around it before, but due to a draft issue in her typical space, she will be closer to the tree (and its scent)

I know that it is dangerous or her to touch it or get into the ornaments/branches etc, but is the smell harmful?

They got it from a tree farm...but it was pre-cut when they selected it. It hasn't been spray-painted green to the best of my knowledge.

Is the smell safe?

The Nature Scent of Pine from a cut pine tree would not have an effect on Parrots. You are safe, so have an enjoyable Christmas!

Do they ever spray trees with pine scent at a tree farm? I know pine scents are bad for them (assuming that is the chemical variety or super-concentrated oils) but nervous about such close-quarters.

In late Summer, tree farms will spray for bugs. The spray is water based and will wash-out of the tree with the rain prior to cutting. So, that is not a concern as there are two months prior to even early cutting in October, three months if cut in November. So, there are zero concerns. That would be ZERO, good friend... :D

We have tree farms near our cottage and know the owners of several farms. Several years ago, they regularly spray painted, but stopped as the painted trees would die if they choose not to cut them. Also, customer push back had them stop painting them as some farmers would thin /cut the paint or not add enough of the drying agent. Either way, the paint would come off if not applied correctly.

FYI: They never spray pine trees with a scent as it would only limit the natural scent. And, the big one: Sprayed scent does not last as long!!!

So, enjoy Christmas and the scent of Pine from a nature pine tree!
