...On 1/15 the kid's have an appointment with Doc Kristin. Got a call from their office asking if we could come in an hour earlier. Seems Dr K is concerned with Amy. The last time we were there was for the draining of the cyst on his noses and he was sedated a bit and it took forever for him to come around. Our dear friend Mr 'Boats suggested if Amy needed happy juice again ask the Doc to go lightly. This is just going to be a physical but Amy doesn't like to be 'man handled" i.e. getting his tootsies trimmed or sleeves shortened and generally just being poked and prodded at..don't blame him, either do I. I'm sure the Doc will want to do blood work also. BB is just getting a wellness check this time.
Sigghh...I'm stressing big time over this..a middle aged green dino with a heart condition..

BUT, this time around, your good Dr. has a heads-up on Amy and will be following a different set of protocols. AND, that is good news, as Amy's needs are foremost in the eye's of his medical professional!

Slow, Deep, Breaths, my good friend!

My birdies’ Uncle Adrian offers me what he likes to call “client valium”, maybe you can ask Dr K for some? :)

Seriously though I wish you and Amy a successful visit to the doc ❤️

Back from seeing Dr.K. All went pretty well. BB is a fine young strapping guy :05: with good weight (89g) and muscle mass.
Dr.K looked at Beeb's first, but prior to that, she gave Amy a shot of happy juice..not as much as when he had the cyst removed. As Dr.K and the tech were talking to BB and doing his toes,I looked in the carrier where Amy was waiting for his turn and he was already getting goofy. Eyes half closed, one foot grabbing the carrier door and making "huh" sounds. Beebs did get his sleeves shortened. Anyone who knows about tiels knows how they freak out so easily. Just a sneeze from me and he goes nutso screaming his head of and flying out of control. He has hit the WALL twice. I can't have him get hurt, and now he dive-bombs 16y.o. Missy for fun, making her run down the hall into the bedroom..it's her house for pete sake

Amy did well..still fought about the grooming.kicking the towel and biting it. He got a slight beaky cleaning, the Doc checked his noses were the cyst was, nails and sleeves. Only bad thing is the Doc says he has poor muscle mass...shoulders aren't what they should feel like. He won't fly..won't do it. I do the lessons with him and he likes to do them but just has no ambition to fly. His weight was good at 512g's.
After the check Doc administered some "wake-up" juice. It took maybe 10 minutes for Amy to come out of it and not be all loopy like the last time.
So all went ok..I guess. Come July blood tests for both.

Happy to hear that Amy's examination went well, my friend!

Regarding the mussel mass, just keep the Wing Flapping in place with the comfort that it is great for his heart and air-sacks. At this point, keep working with him as long as he is interest and likes to flap his wings.

- Heart Health! :D

'Boat's I think he'd flap half the day away if I let him..After a bit he hangs upside-down on his stick and mumbles,I gently right him and back at it.I think I tire out before he would.

Glad that the birds did well with their vet visit. Jim, you might want to try something I did which may help keep BB from freaking out when you sneeze. When Ralph first came here to live he was scared by my powerful sneezes and fell off his perch several times. I taught him to imitate my sneezes and now when I sneeze he wants me to do it again and again. He sneezes along with me, though his are delicate little "Choo! Choo!" sounds. :D I also announce that I'm going to sneeze (when I can-- there are always some sudden, unexpected ones) and both parrots stare at me until the sneeze is done with.

It's not just a sneeze. ANY sudden noise. A cough..something dropped..even something on tv gets him in a tizzy.
