Can Herpes be transferred from humans to parrots?

My Mom had laser treatment for dark spots on her skin a few days ago, and she's now experiencing some kind of reaction to it, with itchy red blisters popping up all over her body today. We don't know what it is yet (still waiting for doctor to call), but I just read online that laser treatment can sometimes cause infections on the skin and that herpes is the most common, and her symptoms do sound similar to herpes. And then I just read that herpes is fatal to birds, so I'm now concerned if they can get it from humans or if it's something they only get from other birds?

Again we don't know if my Mom's rash is herpes yet, but would like to know if she needs to avoid contact with her parrots if it is?

HSV-1 and HSV-2 are not zoonotic.

That being said, there is a herpesvirus called Pacheco's, which is psittacine-based. It is called PsHV-1, so your mum won't have that. Your bird would have to be exposed to another bird with PsHV-1 in order to get it.

Learn something new every day: Laser Treatment can weak the skin surface to allow access of the Herpes Virus... Hmmm, that makes sense, but it implies that exposure too that Virus occurred.
