as a first time owner of a bird this young i’m extra paranoid about everything lol. his nails have grown fairly sharp and painful and with the pinhead feathers on his head starting to open up he’s been scratching his head to help open them up and i’m nervous his nails will aggravate his skin. is it better to clip them or leave them right now? i’m sure the process of clipping them would add a lot of stress to the little guy, and he’s already on an antibiotic healing from what could’ve been a minor infection, so i don’t want to add any extra stress that could mess with his already progressing recovery.

Welcome to Parrot Forum!

Way too early to be clipping your babies nails. Lots of growing up ahead for your baby and those nails will be a very important part of getting around and helping new feathers open-up.

So, relax and enjoy.
