Okay, if my math is right, Baxter is, let's see... half Rickybird's age at 18, carry the 2, plus the winter fluff surcharge... Umm, HUGE at her current, stable 650. Lol!

Well, s/he does have female tendencies.

It’s incredible how...I don’t care about the cost..but I can’t stomach the idea of quipping a toenail to get blood for the sex test.

I can't remember if you mentioned if Archie has had a checkup with the vet. Baseline blood work should be done if you haven't, and they can do the DNA test from that. One stop shopping, so to speak. I'm not a fan of clipping the nail to make it bleed on purpose either.

I had a full workup at my CAV, and it doesn’t require blood.

You only need blood for the sex test.

Full spectrum blood work including CBC is required to check organ function, dietary/vitamin/mineral deficiencies/toxicity, etc. and many of the disease testing is done with blood sample as well. No way around it. It's information you can't get from a physical exam. You really should consider it. I know it's stressful to have the draw done. A good avian vet will do it without incident, and without anesthesia.
