So i was putting Vinny away in her cage as there was a guy coming to fix our floors and didnt want her flying around when door were being opened.

I was putting her away and the guy turned on a loud drill outside my window and spooked her, causing her to get her wing trapped in the bars of her cage.

It was like the first two flight feathers and because i was there she was only stuck for like 2 seconds....if that.

She did panic but was hanging from the cage before i lifted her up and poked her wing back out and checked it over to make sure it was ok.

She seems fine and the wing is in the normal position but she is slightly quiet which i think is from the sheer panic.

Is there anything i need to do or look out for. I have the vets number on standby and they said there is no need to bring her in as it sounds ok. But i do have an appointment for tomorrow just in case.

I feel awful :(

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
Is there any blood or sensitivity? Any changes to range of motion? There could be initial shock, and you can wait to check on some of that, but blood or breaks on feathers=not something to wait out.

Watch for perching ability, tail bobbing when still, any sensitivity, eating etc.

no blood or sensitivity, perching is fine, flying is fine...no tail bobbing and eating like a horse lol. So im hoping it is just a bit of shock.

But i will deffo keep an eye out on all of those....im not gonna sleep tonight for worry.

If you don't see any major issues, and your bird is eating, flying etc, not responding as though there is pain when touched, I would say that he/she is probably okay (not 100%) but probably.

so scary! But it sounds ok thankfully! You can make sure three us no wing or shoulder droop, that she holds it the same as the other side, my birds have done cage freaks that have made my heart beat fast!

If all seems OK, she may have just bruised or wrenched a muscle. Take it from one the most clumsy AMazon Dads, Parrots bruise and pull muscles just like people do. Hope she is fine in the AM.

Went to the vet today and everything was grand apart from a small bit of bruising on the top of the wing.

I maybe didn't need to go to the vet but i would rather be safe than sorry and im glad she is ok as my heart just about stopped when it happened.

Birds.....there gonna give me a heart attack one of these days lol

Thanks for everyones help :)
