just minor question on nut? how fast do there flight feathers moult off?? i ask as she has been dropping little downy feather a few a day, but found a flight feather last, week and today i found another in her cage, but she had chewed the shaft??

she does not seem tobe losing anymore feathers over her body, so i thought i would ask to be sure

"Ellsie" Female, 2 years old, Senegal
Was going to ask this myself, ellsie is doing the exact same thing, so i am guessing its a mault at this time of year? noticed alot of sudden 'white' feathers, little fluffy ones, and the odd larger either tail or wing feather, not sure, but she is now covered in what feels like little spikes (Pins) which she isnt happy wioth me touching, which some one is where re-growth feathers come back, they grow in a little 'shell' as such, but if you stroker/roll them gently will help the feather break through and grow quicker and less annoying fo rthe bird!

Ellsie currently looks like a little scruff bag, and being an especially moody little cow. alot of feathers seem to have gone in a quick space of time.... dont know if this is any reasurance or if anyone else can help further!! x

ty ellsie i've spoken to a breeder of sene's and she says nut's in molt, this will make them moody, bless cos it can irritate them

but on the whole she's a lot calmer then when she was in season :) so all is well

Its that time of the year where they molt.....the primaries gets replaced very quickly as they need them for flight.....my birds are doing that right now....
