I thought it may be interesting to see how many excuses we have heard people give us for not wanting their bird any more. Then when someone comes on the forum one time to sell a bird we can refer them to this thread. I will start and please keep them numbered.

1. Moving
2. Going back to school or college
3. Behavior issues of the bird
4. Noise
5. Expense
6. Don't have time any more for the bird
7. Family issues like divorce
8 Illness
9. Too many birds
10. Allergies

15. I bought a bigger bird that needs more attention so cant look after the little one any more! (well that was mine)
16. "Change of personal Circumstances"

Plus im sorry, but having a baby would be an issue for any animal you my have, some people can cope some cant, a parrot requires a HUGE amount of attention let alone with a new born. persoanlly i dont think i could cope!

I wouldn't let illness really be used as an excuse, ya some people use the word lightly but if someone is in deathbed row or close to it, it better to find the bird a home sooner then later.

14. Parent won't let me have it

A friend of mine had to give up his pet rat when he was in high school and his parents discovered it in his room.

It is foolish to purchase any pet, especially a high maintance one like a bird with the expectation of keeping it secret, but kids sometimes have retarded streaks, I know that I did and so did all of my friends; so that will happen from time to time. At least now with the internet it is easier to find a good home to take a beloved, but forbidden pet in.

I do have two cats -Riply & Nano bites-
four snakes- china, dip & stick, and Grand Chahee-
Ive got one that will blow your mind. I hear it all the time, for all kinds of birds, including turkeys and chickens.

Its a stray, they were left on the side of the road, in the cage.

I cannot immagine that being true.

well it is, I work at a shelter, just the other day that happened. two budgies and a cockatiel were brought in, apparently the "owners" moved and just left them outside.

Oh and A Amazon, dubble yellow headed was brought in, he had birds for 40 years, he was nearly 60, and couldent "tame" this one, he had tried everything for the last two years, apparently it was just "to mean" to handle. Thankgod, one of our kennel techs got him.

We are venting w/o being rude to someone specifically. You of all people know that some of the reasons are valid. It just gets old to see all of those wonderful birds being rehomed for frivolous reasons.:(

My understanding is that it's for people that join the forum *just* to sell their bird, since after all, this is a discussion forum
