She finally figured it out.

Bitty - CAG (2 yrs old? and working on spoiling her rotten)
It has taken a year, but the past week has produced some huge results.

Bitty has finally figured out that if she steps up, she gets extra affection. Now when I get done petting her, she actually resists stepping back down to the cage.

And for the icing on the cake, she finally let me hold her up to my chest and snuggle her like you would a kitten. No fear or panic anymore. Just looking up at me with half-closed eyes.

I can't believe it took a year (it went by so fast!), but patience RULES ALL.

This morning before work I actually caught her lifting one foot slightly as I opened the door to her cage. Anticipation of stepping up!!! :)

My next goal is to get her even more comfortable, so I can walk around the house without her feeling any urge to fly off. The destination is the bathroom shower. She has all of her feathers now, but they are still a little shabby and tattered. If I can get her on a regular bathing routine, she can be the beauty she should be.

Awwww you are a good grey daddy. She has developed trust when she is with you. I take Rosie to the shower every morning for a spritz and then for wing flapping exercise since she is clipped again. She starts to flap before we even get to the BR. How about some photos or vid??? We do not get to see much of Bitty.

You're right. I am just going to have to set up my camera on a tripod with a remote shutter release. I'll just have to get lucky enough to catch her in her favorite spot. I have never seen a bird who was so camera shy / cell phone hating.

I did manage to catch a good pic of Bitty enjoying her new toy. The plastic on this one seems to be a bit tougher than others. It might last longer than a week. ;)

In typical Bitty fashion...hanging on by one toe...she is such a daredevil.
