Snoring? sleep talking?

my conure has been making strange noises that sound kind of like snoring noises but also sound like garbled attempts at words and sometimes little coos and chirps he is also making clicking noises (we play a game where we make tongue clips and he copies them so they are that kind of click noise) but he appears to be asleep has anyone ever heard of this? Is it a usual thing? My boyfriend thinks maybe he is having nightmares. Do birds have nightmares?

i have the cage covered with a warm fleece blanket so it blocks a lot if not all light plus all my lights are off in my room so there is nothing that should be bothering the birds in here

I've heard of parrots snoring, and I don't see why they wouldn't sleep talk.

nut does snore sounds an also zombie sounds an beak grinding in her sleep, when we have our grandaughter over, nut's sleep cage gets put into our room, she makes these sounds in response to my man snoring or asha talking in her sleep, or when we are getting into bed

Of my 3, Rowdy is the only one I've heard talk in her sleep. She did last night. I heard her say, "hello" and "what?" a few times. Although once when I heard her saying "hello" over and over it turned out there was a mouse trying to get into her cage. The cat grabbed it and that was the end of that.

I don't see any reason though why they wouldn't dream or even possibly snore. I used to have a horse that snored like you wouldn't believe. I didn't know she did until she was pregnant and getting ready to foal and I was going out to the barn a few times during the night. And cats and dogs appear to dream, so why wouldn't birds?

I think I wants some videos of birds snoring... :-D

Our Franklin (9 month old YSGCC) sleep talks/kisses/snores every night. He lives in our bedroom and if he gets disturbed by one of us getting up in the night he'll just start whispering himself to sleep. It's absolutely the cutest thing ever!


He whispers himself to sleep every single night saying "pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty bird, pretty bird, pretty pretty bird."


Funny thing is...he NEVER says it out loud during the day! And he says it clear as a bell every single night.


I don't think your baby is having nightmares, I simply think it's a comfort thing. I know it is for Franklin.

We also have 3 cockatiels living in our bedroom (it's a big bedroom) And while they are softly grinding their beaks into blissful sleep...there's Franklin, snuggled in his happy hut..."pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty bird, pretty bird, pretty pretty bird."

Its good to know its normal. franklin sounds really cute murmuring to himself. My baby was doing the same kind of thing is sounded like he was trying to say words and he was snuggled up to his happy hut. Apparently he used to sleep in it all the time at his former home but since i have had him i have only seen him use it once (being inside it) the rest of the time he sleeps beside it.

Is there any special way it should be hung? i have it right in the corner of his cage so only one side is exposed the other is against the bars of the cage could this be why he is not using it?

I have never used cozy huts with any of my other birds so i am not sure how they are meant to be hung

George the YCA sometimes talked and laughed in his sleep.

I, too, have had many birds that talked in their sleep. And I believe they do dream.
