I was looking through the pictures on my computer and came across a few pictures of some of my old birds. I have been a bird lover for a very long time and I used to have a decent sized flock. Unfortunately, several years ago when I was still in high school my mother was diagnosed with a lung condition and I had to rehome all of my birds :(. It was so hard for me as I was very attached to them, but I knew I had to do what was best for my mom. The good news is that soon after we rehomed the birds, her health improved drastically and her lung condition went away almost completely.

Anyway, I thought I would share the pictures I found. They aren't the greatest pictures (they were taken with an old crappy camera) but I hope you enjoy them. Just looking at these almost makes me want to cry. I miss them a lot, but I know they have good homes.

First is my wonderful cinnamon cockatiel boy, Koda. I got him as a birthday present when he was just a little handfed baby. He was SUCH a great bird and he's probably the one I was most attached to.

Next is my little baby, Pepper. Unfortunately, I only had her for a very short time before we learned about my mom's lung condition. I didn't have much time with her, but she was such a sweet little bird.

And finally, my lutino peach faced lovebird, Mango. She was the goofiest, most energetic little thing and always brought a smile to my face. Every day she would beg to come out of her cage and spend time with me. I am actually still in contact with her new owner so I know she is doing well :)

Thanks for looking. I had other birds as well (doves, budgies, finches) but I can't seem to find any pictures of them right now.

Pretty birds!!! Its not easy giving up your flock. I had to do that at one point and it was heart breaking.....

I'm so sorry you had to give up your flock. I've never seen a lovebird like that before. Very stunning!

Thanks, everyone. I know a lot of people don't understand how you could become so attached to a bird, but I really do consider them family members.

I think my family and friends know why I'm attached to them, as they hear stories from me all the time. It's just most of them don't want a bird themselves. My mom always loved birds and had them for decades. Now she just keeps saying, what a mess they are. I don't think they are that messy. My conure is probably the messiest because she shoots poop out through the bars of the cage. And throws food at me to get attention. For the most part, Merlin's and Pete's messes stay in the cage.

Good for you. I wanted to be a vet most of my life until I took biology in high school. I learned very quickly that I had issues even cutting up the worm. As we progressed to other animals, I just couldn't deal with it. I knew the medical profession wasn't for me after all. I've since had to assist in surgeries on my own animals but did not deal with it well.
