Any advice on how to clean food off the walls?

Roxy is definitely a thrower. She loves food and gets it all over her face when she eats. Well, she also shakes her head and it goes EVERYWHERE. It sticks to the walls and is very difficult to get off. The problem is, if I scrub too hard, the paint comes off with it! I currently have marks all over our walls where I have accidentally scrubbed too hard. Any suggestions?

I have plastered concrete walls, all i do is spray a mild cleaner on the wall leave it to soften the food then wipe off with a soft cloth. Sometimes i have to do it a second time but i never have to scrub.

I would suggest you maybe hang an old sheet or shower curtian on the wall., much easier to take it down & wash. I peg a piece of material to the back And/or sides of the cage that helps.

I just got done scrubbing my walls in the dining room. Missing paint as well...lol...in the bird room I hung shower curtains on the wall, we also painted the wall with semigloss paint to make wiping of the walls easier if it does get on the wall...

I put a clear white shower curtain on the wall sides of Cricket's cage and do not feed any wet foods in the cage. If you feed only dry in cage then it is much cleaner.

When you have as many baby eclectus indoors as i do from time to time you quickly work out ways to make life easier. LOL.

I have also screwed a piece of flat iron to the back of the cage, or a clear piece of perspex sheeting.

Unfortunately we feed ours fruit and veggies in the morning. I end up with grape skin attached to the wall or floor somewhere plus other fruits, I hate stepping on bananas...lol....

They're wonderful!!!!! Some kids wrote bad stuffs on my mailbox with permanent marker and magic eraser got it off. I was impressed!!!

I keep a ton of the off brand ones around for everything from my fishtanks to where I will inevitably scrape walls moving furniture.

I keep a ton of the off brand ones around for everything from my fishtanks to where I will inevitably scrape walls moving furniture.

I haven't try that yet. I guess ill give the scuff marks a try....

I hate getting chewed up fruit thrown at my head most of all, lol!

I hang plastic sheeting up behind Rowdy's cage to protect the wall. And yes, you really can't wash flat paint. Semi-gloss is better.

I was also given the sheets that are used in operating rooms by Pete's former owner, and they are really nice. You can actually clean food or poop off of them and re-use them. They are blue though. If you know someone who works in a hospital, they could probably get you some.

Haha! I feed Roxy 80% fresh food, so it's always peppers or tomatoes or carrots or squash on the walls! lolol

Haha it cracks me up every time I see something fly past my face! We also have tile floors around her cage, and I can't believe how difficult it is to clean food off of them. I thought tile was supposed to be easy to clean!

I brought big roll of plain newsprint like they use at schools and put bits of it behind the cage, under the stand. It's very handy and I can recycle it in the compost. Newspaper would do the same but I'm a fusspot

White vinegar is a good, safe cleaner for lots of surfaces, especially ceramic tile. It's a mild acid, so you can spray it on and it'll dissolve lots of stuff. Flat paint, though, is risky, I'd test an area first where no one will likely see it!

We did pergo floors and im on my hands and knees scrubbing. But now in the bird room we lay down towels since its easier to wash them instead.

They really ARE like children, aren't they? I wash floors and walls, and vaccuum, every day. By now, it's just habit. Part of my daily routine. But, that's part of the price of having these wonderful creatures in our homes. A small price, indeed!
