I don't know how much at risk she would be if she ate a small amount. My thought would be that she is at no risk and that only prolonged exposure would be problematic but I really am not sure.

What you could do is call whomever prints that paper and ask them about the toxicity of their inks. Many inks are safe for ingestion in small amounts.

Try feeding peanut butter & call your vet. PB binds anything & takes out the digestive tract. good luck

Merlin leaves his papers alone, I dont even have a grate in his cage. I use that kind of paper under his sleeping spot because it doesnt soak thru. Hope she's ok.

I have used newspapers for cage liners for years. Sometimes also the shiny ad pages. My birds have chewed it, my rodents have chewed it, and my dogs have chewed it. All have been okay. She probably only chewed it up. Not actually ate any. Watch her. If anything different, see vet. But, I think it will be okay.

Modern inks are generally made to be non-toxic, from my understanding. I think they might not be good for the environment, but should be okay for the bird to chew on. If you're worried, you can call the company that printed it to find out about their inks. I wouldn't worry though.

Most printers use soy based inks, the gloss coat can be made of anything from clay to titanium though :/ I'm fairly certain your birdie will be okay though, just make sure to tell everyone to put the paper under the grate! go look for what's called kraft paper (butcher paper) for shredding paper :) that's safe! It's untreated paper (like brown paper bags basically!)

(I'm a graphic (print) communications major, I have to know paper haha)
