I've been so struck by the difference between Geordi and Stitch's eating habits I thought I'd explore how these differences occur in others' birds.

Geordi is dainty, elegant, and fastidious. He holds even the smallest morsel in his foot and eats every crumb.

Stitch is a comparatively careless, and resists using his feet. He'll hold something briefly, but usually drops it promptly. He seems fickle about his food (but this may be partly due to stress and adjustment) and endlessly searches in his bowl-- I can hear his beak scraping the bottom as he fishes through. He seems kind of lazy actually, and likes it if you hold something up for him to eat, like a chunk of apple or banana.

They're both so charming in their own way, but Geordi inevitably seems like the "adult" of the two, with Stitch the messy toddler by comparison.

LOL I would say Codie is a very messy eater... she drops nearly everything that she is holding... She starts off with it in her foot and you can see she is really enjoying it, then down it goes... she looks down as if to say wheres that gone :D If there is something in her Bowl that dosent appeal to her then she throws it out of the cage in disgust... I would actually say that almost half of her food each day is either dropped or thrown out!!

Safira (B&G Macaw)~~ Gracie (CAG) ~ Lucy (CAG)
Safira doesn't use her foot either to eat. I don't know if she's figured that part out, but she grinds her pellets or will chew on her fruit and then drop it.

Gracy is the biggest pig. She flings things everywhere.

Lucy is a really good eater, her fruit and veggies are usually quickly and not much on the bottom of her cage, but she can be messy too.

Ollie/Olivia~ CAG
Remington dunks his pellets before he eats them and anything else that is "hard".
He does use hid feet to hold fruit/veggies and larger pieces of food...however his favoriter are warm mashes straight outu of the bowl!

Gandalf - CAG (1997-2010) R.I.P. my baby boy.
Bitty - CAG (2 yrs old? and working on spoiling her rotten)
Bitty is a complete pig, both in apetite and habits.

She wastes 75% of what she eats. And I know she is capable of being careful. If I should give her a real treat, she eats every speck of it. Otherwise, she attempts to fulfill her biological niche, trying to seed my carpet.

I refer to the 10' diameter semi-circle of partially eaten pellets that surrounds her cage as "the blast radius".

Pete is my neatest eater. Or at least he doesn't end up with a beak covered in fruit or veggies after eating them. But, some days he throws like half his pellets to the bottom of the cage. He will pick one up, look it over, drop it, and then eat the next one. Other days he hardly drops any. They all look the same to me, but apparently not to him!

Merlin is pretty neat and doesn't waste that much. But with soft foods she gets kind of messy. Rowdy is pretty much the same. She hardly throws or wastes anything, but her entire beak is covered in veggies every night.
