Hi guys!

I've seen people post about how they give their birds nutriberries as a part of their diet.Am I right about this?

If so I would like to add them to Pearls diet because I want to her to eat as healthy things as possible other than pellets and fruits and veggies.

I went to the pet store today and was looking and there's a bunch of different types. What types do you guys use and how much?

Thanks

I give them as treats but supposedly they can even be a main diet. My vet works for them so she is very pro Nutriberry.

Merlin likes the amazon size in the original flavor. Rowdy prefers the smaller size in the Tropical Fruit flavor, but she has been willing to eat parts of Merlin's as well. I keep ending up with all these crumbles breaking Merlin's berries in half for meds, and Rowdy is quite happy to be fed the crumbles. But, Merlin does not like Rowdy's berries.

You can try any flavors, depends on what your bird likes best. I use them as snacks and give 1 to each a couple of times per week. You could give your bird 1 per day as well.

Mine seem to like the fruity ones the best.

Okay so I guess I'll start with the original to see what she likes and if not I'll let her try different ones but she eats anything lol.My pet store has types in bags that click closed and then in plastic containers but they are both the same brand. How much do you give?Sorry for all the Q's:D

Edit: posted right after that thanks

Oh, and I usually give them each 2 a day although Merlin has been getting more because I put her meds on them.

My avian vet told me to give my birds 3 berries per day when molting for extra calories. I do give them as treats also. Of course if you have an obese birdie, it would not be advisable.

My guys love the Papya*Pineapple*Mango flavors . They go crazy for them :)
I like using them for treats too , but I usually give a couple each day . I have to break them into two pieces for Yoshi but Rosie likes them whole.
Make sure you keep the bag sealed tightly .

Yes, Rowdy gets upset with the big sizes because she can't hold them. I once accidentally bought her the amazon ones and then had to break them all in half for her. That was a pain so I try to get it right now.

I know , and if you try to break them after they have been out of the bag awhile , it's like trying to break a pebble in two. I just get the amozon size and break them before I give Yoshi his share.

Tate likes the fruity ones. I'll give him one a week as a treat, but thats mostly because I have a variety of different things I'll give him as treats so he doesn't get bored with the same old thing all the time. I am also under the impression that they can be fed daily as long as the bird is on an overall healthy diet. As far as the flavors, I say experiment. Each bird has their own taste just like us : )

They do actually make some that are supposed to appeal to different birds. The tropical fruit ones are supposed to appeal to S. American birds. I saw like a bar at the vet's today that was made to appeal to Greys. It had different ingredients that were supposed to be yummy to them. I remember it had some nuts and cranberries in it, but I can't remember the other ingredients. I wanted to get Merlin one, and then unfortunately forgot when I checked out. I'll get her one next time.

Yes, she had 2 different kinds of these bars. One was for the S. American birds and the other was for Greys. I looked at the boxes they were displayed in and read them.

Maybe I can find them on the Lafeeber website or my vet's website. I'll check.

I think they were the Avi-cakes or Nutri-meals. It's hard for me to tell with the little pictures.

I haven't tried giving them to Jasper yet. Tico ignored them until I crumbled one on his playstand. That's all it took I guess. Jasper gets an Avi-cake crumbled in his pellet mix but I suppose I could use the Nutriberries. It's more or less an enticement to get him in the bowl.

I almost picked up the hot pepper ones but was told Jasper can't have them yet. Not sure how old he should be before he can. I got the garden veggie one I think from there and the mango one from Kathie and it was actually a buck cheaper from her.

Rowdy will eat any of the Nutriberries but prefers the Tropical Fruit. Merlin seems to really like the original flavor the best. I haven't gotten Pete to try one yet, either whole, crumbled or little pieces.
