The hawks outside are just to worrisome to go with harnesses, so this has been the other idea I've been thinking about [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Double-Deck-Pet-Stroller/dp/B00339I750/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1333582263&sr=8-3]Amazon.com: Blue Double Deck Pet Stroller: Pet Supplies[/ame] Sure, people will be certain I'm the local crazy bird lady, but I think it looks pretty cool, and waaay cheaper than a pak-o-bird. "Cat carriers" would fit inside. I don't think I could just put them inside without something else, because they could chew the mesh. I would rather have some kind of cage like this for inside [ame]http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/product.cgi?group=902&product=7621[/ame] so they can see out better, but its too big. Anybody have any other ideas? Know of any carriers that would fit and they could see out better? Or thoughts on a way to attach some kind of metal mesh over the exsisting mesh?

It's totally intended for another animal entirely but... I put lucy in an exoterra explorarium!

Exo Terra : Explorarium / Quick-Release Full Screen Terrarium

They come in a variety of sizes, lucy fits comfortably in a small :) PLENTY of room to move around :) you can get them off amazon too. I got mine from reptiledirect.com though

How has it held up to beaks/claws? Have you found any way to attach perches so they can use the whole height of it, or do they just hang out standing on the bottom? When I saw the picture of it, I had this immediate mental image of them hanging in those next to the windchimes lol.

If you have Bird Talk , it might be advertised in there.
But they definitely make them for birds.

Around here I am already known as the crazy bird lady, lol!

And I was once the crazy cat lady.

I guess I would try to sew some stainless steel mesh, but as for making sure where it is sewed on is reinforced well, I can't advise. I am a terrible sewer, but if you know sewing or someone who does, I'm sure that person would be a big help.

I'm thinking of making my own birdie backpack using super heavy cordura like they use on motorcycle luggage and stainless steel. I will need a friend to help with the sewing part though. That 1700 denier cordura is amazingly tough material. I have also heard hemp is as well, but might be expensive and hard to find.

I was looking up stainless steel mesh on amazon, not sure which I would need to get or if it's flexible to put on? Or if it's stiff and doesn't bend? I can sew... sort of.... can't say I've ever tried sewing metal though lol.

That stroller is so cool!! If you get one, let us know how it works out. I think my fids would love it. But I know what you mean about everyone thinking we really had gone nuts!!(LoL) I can just hear my husband and my kids (they are grown), saying mom really has lost it!!! They already think I'm a bit obsessed over my birds. And they are right, I am! But I think it's a pretty great thing to be obsessed over.

Hi Rio Mom, What's your purpose for wanting this stroller? Is it to get your birds outside for socialization? Or is it just to get them outside? If solo for getting them outside, you might want to think about investing in an outdoor cage, just my thoughts.

To be able to take them for walks with us (we live in a quiet, rural, woodsy type area, nice for taking walks), or possibly to go places like petco or onto the walkway to see people. Just for going outside onto the porch, I've been taking them in their carriers.

Well, that Pack O Bird company offers stainless steel mesh as an upgrade, and it comes on the one they claim is tamper proof for Greys. Which is the one I'd like to get seeing what my birds can gnaw through, but it's also like $250, which is a lot for what it is I think. So it must bend enough. Even that heavy duty stuff i had to put on my house to add stone veneer was quite flexible, so I'm thinking it would bend fine?

Mine as well, lol! She would much rather have grandchildren than grandbirds, grandhorses and a grandcat. I sent her photos of the birds a couple of weeks ago and I think she wasn't really sure what to say...

Kazi - 13 yr old yellow nape amazon rescue
We can all be nuts together. My husband thinks I've lost my mind because I'm shopping for the perfect front carrier for my bike that I can securely attach Kazi's carrier to so he can go on bike rides with us.

When I first told him what I wanted to find he looked at me like he just knew I was joking. But I wasn't. I have a feeling he may be pretending not to know me on the trail this year :D
