I recently came across a breeders website that claims they ship parrot eggs, with a hatching guarantee. Now I grew up in a family that hatched eggs, and it was so hard to do, I do not see how it would even be possible. How do they requlate the temperature and humidity during transport? Is this some sort of scam, or just an irresponsible breeder? Does anyone know anything about this? The site says they are based out of Florida.

I wouldn't do it either. You would have to know if the breeder is honest & not one of these scams from Camaroon.

However eggs are easy to incubate if you have the right equipment. And the eggs are fresh. I don't mind putting any parrot egg into my incubator providing they are under a week old. They say a fertile egg is OK up to 14 days but i think it's would be compromised. I always have a 100% success rate with fresh eggs.

I wouldn't do it either! How could you know that the eggs were even fertile? Other than any other obvious issues? No way!

I only know of one breeder that I would consider eggs from, and part of the reason for that is that I am certain that they would say no.

Even if it was a legitimate breeder, unless you pick the egg up in person, it seems to me a lot of things could go wrong in the shipping process. Obviously it could get broken. Or it might be just shook up too much. Even a tiny crack can allow the whole egg to get infected.

They do sell fertile chicken, quail and duck eggs online as well.I almost bought the coturnix quail eggs a few years ago but found a local breeder instead. One of these days I may still get some and see if I can get them to hatch.

Don't worry, I am not interested in buying them! I just came across an ad and thought it sounded rather fishy to me. I wanted to see if this was something new, or an old hoax. I guess it has been around for a while!

I did look locally to purchase a GWM egg or hatchling. I have been wanting a companion for Scenic for a while, but with two new horses in my pasture, I couldn't afford to spend that much money. Having grown up raising birds, I enjoy doing all the dirty work myself! I am new to this area, so none of the local breeders know who I am. I couldn't find anyone who was willing to sell them that young. It was disappointing, but I guess for the best, since at least they are being responsible.

I live on a farm, and I have ordered chicken eggs, and hatched them. I let my niece and nephew choose a breed to show in 4H, and they chose Silkies. There were no show quality birds around here, so I got a friend to ship me some from out of state. They are actually pretty easy to hatch, expecially compaired parrot eggs! I got a half dozen, and only one didn't hatch.

There were no legit egg-sellers back in 2012 when this thread was active and still in 2018 there remains no legit egg-sellers. Like mentioned above unless you want something like quails or turkeys there are no legitimate sellers of FERTILE parrot eggs.

You may get shipped an egg but it will never hatch... don't believe me, then try it. Too good to be true!! Run from that website.

haha bitcoins

they're never legitimate and also if they were legitimately shipping parrot eggs why would you want to do it? You pay someone to give you an egg that you will have to spend roughly what?... $2000 on supplies just to get them to fledgling? When you could just go buy a healthy hand fed bird for the price the egg would cost you

note if some rando on the internet can garuntee all their eggs will hatch why haven't they been employed to repopulate wild endangered species?

Scam, scam, scam. Oh yes did I mention scam. Save your money. Read every stickie at the top of every sub-forum on this website, read it again, and by then you will have enough information to get a parrot that will truely be a lifetime companion. Not being mean, just want the best outcome for both you and the parrot you wind up getting. Good luck,
